§ 2.40.150. Allowances.

  • A.

    Health Insurance. All supervisory employees shall be eligible for health insurance benefits to be established by the city council by resolution from time to time as the council deems appropriate.

    B.

    All city employees shall be eligible for reimbursement for such additional expenses required by their employment in the form of allowances for the use of a private automobile on city business as the council by resolution shall provide.

    C.

    All full-time supervisory police officers shall be compensated in an amount specified by resolution of the city council each year for cleaning and maintaining the required uniform clothing and equipment, such payment to be made on December 1st of each year with said amount being computed on a fiscal year basis.

    D.

    All supervisory employees shall be entitled to the following:

    1.

    Glasses required to be worn on duty shall be replaced or repaired at a reasonable price as determined by the city council in the event of destruction or damage through performance of a duty.

    2.

    A watch, required to be carried on duty, shall be replaced or repaired at a reasonable price which, in any event, shall not exceed twenty-five dollars in the event of destruction or damage through the performance of a duty.

    E.

    Longevity. Longevity shall be paid to all supervisory employees who have worked for the employer for stated periods of time as set out by resolution of the city council from time to time. Said sums will be added to the paychecks of the affected employees equally over twenty-six pay periods.

    F.

    The city shall pay the entire monthly premium of a supervisory employee for a term life insurance policy for the employee with a face value of thirty thousand dollars including accidental death and dismemberment and for the supervisory employee's family members as follows: spouse—five thousand dollars, child from birth to less than six months of age—one hundred dollars, child from six months of age but less than nineteen years—two thousand dollars, child from six months to age twenty three in the event a full-time student—two thousand dollars. The city shall determine the carrier of such insurance in its sole discretion.

    G.

    Education and Training. All supervisory employees who desire college level training will be reimbursed by the employer for one hundred percent of their tuition, laboratory fees and/or books, not to exceed a total reimbursement of two thousand dollars per contract year. To be eligible for this benefit, the following criteria must be met by the supervisory employee:

    1.

    The general course of study must be in the supervisory employee's field and must enhance the qualifications of the supervisory employee in his job.

    2.

    The college level training must be pre-approved by the supervisory employee's immediate supervisor with the approval not being unreasonably withheld.

    3.

    The maximum number of college level credit hours reimbursed by the city for any one supervisory employee shall not exceed one hundred twenty hours.

    4.

    The supervisory employee must receive a passing grade equivalent to a C or better.

    5.

    The course must be taken on the supervisory employee's own time.
